The fifth instalment of Rohmer’s ‘Comedies and Proverbs’ series sees a weepy French lady spending her summer wandering around France trying to live in the moment and have experiences (but mainly winds up crying in fields). Over the course of her holidays she confronts her loneliness and restlessness, coming to terms with her inability to accept the monotonous reality of dating and the unlikeliness of her idealised conceptions of romance.
