This satirical masterpiece, directed by Stanley Kubrick, explores the absurdities of nuclear brinkmanship during the Cold War. An unhinged American general (hilariously named Jack D. Ripper) initiates an attack on the Soviet Union, and chaos ensues: a war room full of politicians, army men, and a Russian diplomat all frantically try to stop the impending nuclear strike.
